It’s a Wire-in-the-Tongue Kind of Day

My teeth have been moving.

Fast.

I honestly can’t remember if my teeth moved this quickly the first time I had braces, but people who know me well, really notice that my teeth look diferently. My mouth feels differently, too.  Especially my top teeth!  I think I’ll just tape a video this weekend and show you – it’ll be easier than writing it out.

I watched a video that 3M Unitek had made for WEtv featuring Dr. Patrice Pellerin, and he says in the video (about two and a half minutes in) that you notice a change in your teeth in just one visit when you wear braces.  I’m not an orthodontist, so I’ll trust him that teeth just move pretty fast with braces!

Now because my teeth have been moving, there’s a bit of excess wire sticking out at the back of my teeth so my tongue aches today.  It keeps rubbing along the wire when I speak.  Fortunately, I really only notice it on the left side, but it’s affecting my speech since I’m protecting the sore part of my tongue.

My solution?!  Two-part wax (of course!).  It seriously makes it feel so comfortable and smooth. I have an appointment on Tuesday morning (the day after my two-month anniversary), so I’ll have my doctor take a look at it then.  In the meantime, I can tough it out this weekend.

By the way, learn a lesson from me.  I noticed that wire yesterday, and I didn’t do anything about it, even though I was sounding lispy in the afternoon, and today I’m regretting it.  Deal with the issues as they happen!  Just think wax on….and when you want to eat, you can think wax off.

Here’s Dr. Pellerin’s video!  That basketball makes me smile every time.  :D

**Update**

Can you see the bun in my braces from that massive gourmet burger? No? Of course not! My braces are behind my teeth. I ended up eating most of it!! I totally used a fork and knife on the second half.

Back from lunch with my friend, Em, and she was kind enough to take some pics of my massive gourmet burger!  It was a bit too “bun-y” for me (and my bunny teeth).  The bun was just wedged between my brackets, but no one knew…which is so awesome.

I highly recommend the gourmet mac and cheese as a side.  Soooo easy to chew with braces!!

Mac and cheese is definitely in my top five favourite braces-friendly foods.
