Fallin’ for Niagara: First Speech with Braces

I’m back from a fabulous weekend in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Ontario!  3M Unitek Canada held a conference called The Beauty of Aesthetics in Orthodontics and from what I heard, all of the doctors, staff and 3Mers had such a fabulous time.

Enjoying a winery tour in Niagara-on-the-Lake with Claude (left) and Todd (right) during our conference.

Niagara-on-the-Lake was a beautiful location for a conference on aesthetics.  It’s a quaint, historic town near Niagara Falls that’s known for its outstanding wineries.  It made me want to start up a bed and breakfast when I retire….in 30+ years.

As much as I enjoyed the relaxed, slow pace of the town, I have to admit that after a weekend of networking and entertaining…My. Tongue. Is. Sore.

Okay, to be more clear, my tongue feels like it has a little cut on the very tip and it’s sore along the back where my tongue meets my back brackets.

I totally credit these sensations to two things:
1) I had my first public speaking engagement with Incognito Hidden Braces this weekend at the orthodontic conference

2) I talked a lot to many guests throughout the weekend event…and sang a lot at the Winery Gala Dinner on Saturday night

Now, to prepare for my speech, I put a two-part wax on all of my back brackets (top and bottom), simply for comfort.  I knew I’d be speaking for about an hour and a half, and I really wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t slur my words, and I was hoping to keep my tongue protected to enhance my articulation.

I think it worked quite well!  No one was complaining that they couldn’t understand me….although I definitely still speak too fast.  I’ll work on it, okay?!  We’re not all perfect…although I wish I was…

You can clearly see my Incognito Braces when I laugh really hard! FYI: A doctor pretended to lick my face when I looked right at him for the previous picture which caused my reaction captured perfectly here.

The conference went pretty much perfectly, and I doubt anyone would have known I was wearing braces…except I told them all (of course) and I laugh pretty hard, so you can see them when I laugh.  I know when I told a few of the staff members I was wearing them, they were shocked.  They work with braces every day - I thought for sure they could tell!

Speaking of working with braces every day, all three of the doctors who spoke at the conference use Incognito Braces in their practices and are unbelievably talented speakers.  It was such a pleasure to share the stage with them.

Now that I know I can handle a lengthy speech with Incognito Braces, I feel I can take on the world!  Okay, maybe not the world, but definitely the next speaking engagement that comes my way.

About Jacqui

I'm the marketer at 3M Canada for Incognito Hidden Braces, and I'm trying to get to know my product better by actually wearing them. I had braces as a kid, but my teeth moved over the years. I'm sharing my progress and experiences honestly to help others decide if Hidden Braces are a good choice for them, too.
