For the next couple of days, I’m going to be hanging out with my 3M ESPE colleagues (that’s 3M’s dental division) to let the general dental population see Incognito Braces up close and personal.

I'm trying to apply Vanish White Varnish to myself without a mirror...in the middle of a trade show.
While at the show, I learned a lot about how to prevent and even reverse cavities. Did you even know that was possible? 3M ESPE has a three-step preventive product line. It’s awesome!
There’s Vanish™ XT Extended Contact Varnish. It’s put on at your general dentist’s office and involves a curing light. I liked it because braces make your teeth feel sensitive enough. I couldn’t imagine having an exposed root or something and with the etching and sand blasting that goes on during the bonding process, it would be unbearable without something like this.  It also releases fluoride slowly and lasts for six months.
What I’m getting in the picture is Vanish™ 5% NaF White Varnish with TCP technology that delivers targeted, sustained fluoride and calcium release. It’s feels like there’s a film on your teeth afterward, by the way, which I didn’t realize was going to happen. According
to the website, that’s how you know it’s working.
And if you didn’t know, 3M makes pretty much everything, including toothpaste. The Clinpro™ 5000 1.1% Sodium Fluoride Anti-Cavity Toothpaste can be used as your everyday toothpaste. It delivers more fluoride, helps strengthen enamel and helps reverse white spot lesions.
I haven’t worried about white spots with my Incognito Hidden Braces, but I certainly did when I had braces the first time around. I was terrified I’d get my brackets off and there would be rectangles left where the brackets were placed. These products certainly would have helped me feel more confident during my treatment.
